the beginning, sort of

Language acquisition is what I looked forward to most about having a child. My dear daughter is 1 year and two weeks as I start this blog. She's been listening intently for over a year now and she's ready to say something about it.

Her brain is catching up to her tongue and we're experiencing an explosion of sound with new words daily. Ask her bout it and she'll tell you she's "happy", she's a "happy baby".

Today (heard for the first time):
keys
Booby (for big sister Ruby)
diaper

Each time, she said each one of these words, she would look into my eyes. She's looking for responses much more now.

Past couple of days:
baby
Mommy
shoes
ow, ouch
